Like
a returning old friend, spurn
again performed at
Collective:
Unconscious in April 2002. (Granted, the friend makes
you slightly uncomfortable and constantly talks about things
like bukkake and blumpkins, but an old friend nonetheless) spurn
was also invited to perform at Collective's year-end fund-raising
gala. Because people just can't get enough of that spurn.
spurn's
comedic philosophy spread quickly (much like the meme about
the urine content of restaurant mints). On July 19th, 2002, spurn debuted in Manteo, North
Carolina with an all-new cast and crew. Our illustrious
Stage Manager (spurn I, II & V)
Ry Pepper, emigrated to North Carolina to work pyrotechnics
on the country’s longest, I running outdoor "symphonic
drama",
The
Lost Colony. While there, Ry took it upon herself
to direct and produce a one-night-only performance of spurn.
The show was performed in the Morrison Grove, where actors
and technicians who work for The Lost Colony reside.
In
December, spurn officially
became an off-Broadway sensation when they moved to the
Vital Theatre,
part of the historic 42nd Street Theatre Row district. A
holiday-themed show was presented although that lessened
the angst and bitterness not one iota. In fact, this is recognized
as the darkest show in spurn
history, with more than the usual helping of pathos.
