“Mr. Unlucky,” lensed in 2003, represented spurn’s first foray into filmmaking. This silent, comedic short was shot on location in New York City and Long Island. Popular music video director Jarett Bellucci was cinematographer and original music was provided by Toothless Monkey Records.
spurn had a successful series of performances at several well-known comedy clubs in New York City including Ha! and the Gotham Comedy Club during the summer of 2003.
Also in 2003, spurn officially decided on a production company identity and settled on the eponymous spurn productions after negating suggestions such as Rorschach Productions, Baby Satan Productions, Ambiguous Production Company 6579, and Titicaca Productions.
Sometimes the shortest distance between two points is 14 months of bickering, apparently.
