Neil Turitz
joined spurn for the October 2006 production, and now we
can't make him leave. Neil was born and raised in Portland, Maine, which is
a lovely place to live but a rather boring one in which
to grow up. He went to college at
Columbia
University in New York and, after falling in
love with the city, never left. He was a sports writer at
the
New
York Post and covered entertainment at
US
Magazine (when it was still a monthly and, therefore,
respectable) before leaving behind his journalism career
for an exciting and occasionally lucrative one as a screenwriter.
He wrote and directed the award-winning romantic comedy
Two
Ninas starring
Amanda
Peet (Studio
60 on the Sunset Strip,
Syriana)
and
Ron
Livingston (Standoff,
Sex
in the City,
Office
Space, co-wrote and produced the award-stiffed,
but still very funny,
Knots,
with
John
Stamos (ER,
Full
House),
Tara
Reid (American
Pie),
Paulina
Porizkova and
Annabeth
Gish (Brotherhood),
and has done extensive work as a script doctor (most recently
for the European production, I Am Legion, to be filmed
in the winter), director of live theater (the sketch comedy
group spurn), and all-around
trouble shooter, dragon slayer and world saver. He is single,
a Sagittarius, and has lived in the same apartment for 14
years.
